My Writing
I pictured something brighter,
I’ve had pieces of my heart stolen
And never got them back.
So I’ve learned to live without,
And got used to what I lack.
I don’t know when love became
Something I learned to fear,
Or why the ones who want me close
Are the ones I won’t let near.
Some days I think I’m hard to love,
Most days it feels too real...
I love the way love quiets the noise.
I love the peace of knowing they’re near.
I love the little moments that mean everything
and how love makes the world disappear.
I hate how love turns against you.
I hate how comfort grows teeth in the dark.
I hate how someone who feels like home

Something has changed,
but you haven’t said a word.
It’s hidden in the silence,
of the things that go unheard.
I see it with your distance,
in the way you turn away,
I’ve felt our talks grow shorter,

There’s no going back to yesterday,
no matter how much we hope or pray;
no rewinding to the words that were almost uttered,
or to the chances that were almost taken.

I overshare.
It’s what happens when you’ve been lonely for too long,
And unheard even longer.
Nights are heavy and silent.
I carry my own stories to bed.
The weight piles up in my chest,
Pressure building,
Waiting for the smallest crack to escape.
Then with friends, in lighter air,
The dam gives way.
