Behind The Smile

He laughs where the crowd can see,

Plays the part he’s meant to be.

The world believes the mask he wears,

Blind to the weight on unseen cares.

The drive is quiet, the music low,

A place where shadows freely grow.

Tears spill softly; unseen, unheard.

His heart speaks truths without a word.

Home at last the silence roars,

A fragile man behind closed doors.

The cracks he hides begin to show,

In the solitude his demons glow.

But come the dawn, he’ll rise again,

And patch the cracks to make his pain.

For in his mind, no one should see,

The ache beneath his misery.
